Description
Melalite® Forte Cream is manufactured by Abbott. This is a topical treatment for dermal hyperpigmentation, also known as melasma, chloasma, liver spots, age spots, and freckles. Hyperpigmentation is an uneven darkening of the skin caused by overproduction of melanin, a pigment responsible for skin and hair coloring. Melanin abnormal growth may be caused by a variety of factors including aging, pregnancy, birth control pills, hormonal medications, exposure to sunlight, injuries, and skin inflammation.
Melalite® Forte Cream comprises Hydroquinone as an active ingredient. Hydroquinone is a benzene derivative of phenol type and a topical lightening agent.
MOA (mechanism of action):
Hydroquinone acts by inhibiting the synthesis of tyrosinase, an enzyme crucial for melanin production and functioning. When melanin growth is under suppression, the dark spots start lightening and the skin slowly comes back to its natural complexion.
