Description
Omeflox® Eye Ointment is manufactured by Entod Pharma. The key component is Ofloxacin – a second generation antibiotic from the Fluoroquinolone (or Quinolone) family with a broad-spectrum activity against susceptible organisms.
Indications:
- bacterial eye infections (conjunctivitis, mucopurulent conjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, and blepharitis).
Do not use Omeflox® Eye Ointment to treat a viral or fungal infection of the eye.
MOA (mechanism of action):
Ofloxacin is a synthetic antibacterial drug. It works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (type II topoisomerase, and topoisomerase IV) – an enzyme essential for separation of the replicated DNA. Thereby, Ofloxacin prevents bacterial cytokinesis. This results in bacteria death and elimination of the infection. Ofloxacin effectively fights Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Propionibacterium acnes, Enterobacter cloacae, Haemophilus influenzae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia marcescens.
